3rd International Women’s Day Hop

Hello everyone! Women are the embodiment of love, strength and courage, and I’m super excited today to be a part of the 3rd International Women’s Day Hop!

I’m pleased to say that Penguin Palace, among many others are sponsoring this year’s hop. The first stop of the hop starts HERE, please head over to check-out the full hop list where you will find lots of wonderful inspirations from many talented artists, AND for a chance to win!

For this hop, I made a very feminine card. This colorful background was created using The Floral Wreath on our Stencils 360°TM tool, at a turning interval of 45°.

I ink blended a combination of Distress Oxide Inks including Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, Bundled Sage, Cracked Pistachio, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron and Wilted Violet. There was no masking needed to apply these different colors to the different elements on this stencil, and that is the advantage of using the Stencils 360°TM tool! And, there was no cleaning of the stencil in between inking!

To give the card a little bit more interest, I used the scalloped die from the Words From The Heart (Chapters 1 & 2) – Coordinating Penguin Perfect Cuts on kraft cardstock and adhere that to the centre of my card. Then I took a piece of Elegant Backwash – Premium Fine Paper and wrap it around my card to form a sleeve.

I then cut another piece of kraft cardstock to house my sentiment. To match the theme of the hop, I chose the following scripty sentiment from the Words From The Heart (Chapter 2) stamp set:

“To the world you are a mother, but to your family you are the world”

As a new mom to my first born who just turned two years old, this sentiment really warms my heart. Like some of you, I’m now a Stay-at-Home mom since I quit my job about a year ago. I’m pretty sure we share and face some of the same challenges day in, day out; yet we choose this path, as we want to spend more time with our loved ones. And I’m so glad I did it, as no matter how frustrating it gets, there’s always a moment where I think to myself that all of the hard work is more than worth it…like the moment when my son smiles and says “I love you mommy” 🙂

I hope you enjoy the above inspiration! And I hope all of us crafters will continue to be kind, positive, humble, and always support and encourage each other as we take a step forward towards women empowerment!

Ashley’s Adorable Friendship Card!

Hello guys, Ashley’s back with another cute card that will for sure inspire you!

Using the Waterspout Stencils 360°TM at a turning interval of 45 degrees (spinning from triangle to triangle), Ashley ink blended with Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink on a piece of pink patterned paper. I just love the overlapping bubbles effect!

She took some adorable images were from There’s No One Like You stamp set and scatter them on her pink background.

I love how she further decorated the card with some circular pieces of vellum!

To finish off, she used ome Tonic Nuvo drops in clear and red around the card! Check out her video tutorial over on our YouTube Channel. Make sure you subscribe for more inspirations!

Happy New Year! A Charming Underwater Scene with Ashley

Hello! Happy New Year everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted here on the PP blog! I miss you all so much! I’ve been busy getting all of the pre-orders on the Stencils 360°™ shipped out, and I’m so happy that I get to share the joy of crafting with this new tool together with you!

Today we have Ashley’s fun card featuring one of our earlier stamp sets, The More We Get Together.

Ashley chose a panel of light blue cardstock cut with the second-largest Dots-Meets-Dashes rectangle stand-alone die set. Combining the Stencils 360°TM and the Waterspout circular stencil, she ink blended light blue ink and white pigment ink in alternating sequence to create this wonderful underwater background!

I just love the tone-on-tone effect and how this pattern mimics the bubbles under water surrounding all these cute images!

She stamped and coloured some images from the The More We Get Together stamp set and arranged them onto the card panel, adhering them with liquid glue or foam squares to give it more dimension. She used the sentiment “You have my seal of approval” which coordinates with the adorable seal image.

She also die cut another panel for her card base using patterned paper with the largest die from Dots-Meets-Dashes rectangle stand-alone die set.

For the finishing touch, she added a few droplets of embellishments to mimic the look of more bubbles!

Thank you Ashley for sharing your awesome creation! It’s so much fun!

Thank you for sticking around with the Penguin Palace blog, wish you all a great start to the year 2021!

One Large Canvas • Two Amazing Cards – with Ashley!

Hi crafty friends, happy Monday! Today we have Ashley with us sharing a pair of cards she created using the Stencils 360°TM and the Sacred Lotus Stencils.

Ashley chose the largest size Paper Positioner and used a 7 1/2″ piece of white cardstock as her canvas. To begin, she blended alternating colours of Distress Oxide inks in Speckled Egg, and Chipped Sapphire on just one of the stencil (Barrel 2) from the Sacred Lotus Stencil set, jumping from one heart symbol to another (ie. turning her stencil at 22.5° at each rotation); while leaving one out of every four rotations blank to later position her heat embossed petals.

After she’s done all her ink blending, she used Versamark ink and added silver embossing powder on the remaining petals. I just love the shimmery look with the heat embossing!

She cut the entire canvas in two halves and used the second largest rectangle die from the Dots Meets Dashes rectangle stand-alone die cuts to cut a matching panel out of each half. These panels each measures 3 3/4″ x 5″.

These beautiful scripty sentiments were from the Heartfelt Wishes stamp set.

I love the silver foil card bases as they go really well with the heat embossed petals.

She finally added a scatter of gems to each card for some extra glitter!

Don’t forget to check out her video tutorial below or over on our YouTube Channel!

Thank you so much Ashley! These cards are so amazing!

A Gorgeous Poinsettia from Ashley!

Hello crafty friends! Today’s card has such wonderful Christmas vibes!

Ashley first prepared an A2 size cardstock die cut from the Dots Meet Dashes Large Rectangles Overlays – Stand-Alone Die. Using our Stencils 360°TM tool, she blended Distress Oxide inks in Candied Apples and Pine Needles onto the Sacred Lotus stencil in an alternating fashion as she rotated it. I just love how simple it is to create such a beautiful look of a poinsettia!

The sentiment “Hugs” from the Heartfelt Notes stamp set was stamped in light yellow ink on a small white circular piece of stitched cardstock.

I love how she then layered that onto a piece of glittery yellow cardstock cut with the scalloped circle die from the Warmest Wishes and Heartfelt Notes coordinating Penguin cuts. The glittery yellow sure gives a nice contrast to the deep red flower!

Finally the entire panel was adhered onto a piece of gold foil cardstock for the shiny and glamours look!

Thank you so much Ashley! This card reminds me so much of Christmas!
